Linda Suttle: $1,609

Denver Actors Fund helps veteran actor and director with dental emergency

About Linda Suttle: Actor and Director Linda Suttle has been a part of the Denver theatre community “for longer than I care to admit,” she says.  She has worked with many area companies including the Country Dinner Playhouse, Town Hall Arts Center, Miners Alley Playhouse, Vintage Theatre, Lake Dillion Theatre, Longmont Theatre Company, Evergreen Players and the Aurora Fox. She was performing as Aunt Ruth in “Marvin’s Room” for  Vintage at the time of the COVID shutdown. Favorites roles have included Queen Eleanor in “The Lion in Winter,” Momma Rose in “Gypsy,” Nurse Ratched in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and Kate in “The Cripple of Inishman.” Directing projects have included “Lobby Hero,” “One Man, Two Guvnors, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” “Wait Until Dark” and “Twelve Angry Men.” At the beginning of 2020, she retired from the Littleton Police Department after 32 years as its Victim Services Coordinator.

Her medical story: Linda broke a tooth last week and was hoping it could be taken care of with a filling. Instead, she had to have an emergency crown. After insurance, she was left with a bill of $1,609.

How we have helped: The Denver Actors Fund Board of Directors voted unanimously to cover the entirely of Linda’s medical obligation, or $1,609.

‘THIS IS SUCH A RELIEF, AND I APPRECIATE THE HELP MORE THAN I CAN POSSIBLY SAY.’

How you can help us help us help more Colorado theatre artists: If you would like to make a donation to help The Denver Actors Fund replenish, simply mail checks in any amount made out to Denver Actors Fund to P.O. Box 11182, Denver, CO 80211. Or use this donation link, with our humble thanks.

A message from Linda: “I so admire The Denver Actors Fund and all the assistance they’ve provided to theatre folks during this horrible pandemic. I couldn’t imagine that I would also be applying for assistance, and I am so grateful for the help. When I retired from the Littleton Police Department at the beginning of 2020, Social Security became my income and Medicare my insurance. I could always count on some additional income from acting and directing in theatre, and from my small business called The Justice Players, where I provide actors for law-enforcement agency trainings. COVID shut everything down, and that income went away, too. A week ago, I broke a tooth. Medicare doesn’t cover any dental expenses, and crowns are really expensive! A bill of $1,609 would have been a major strain on my finances, and The Denver Actors Fund came to my rescue! I want to thank the Board of Directors for helping me out so quickly. I am so grateful, it’s such a relief, and I appreciate the help more than I can possibly say. Please keep The DAF high on your list for donations. I know I will continue to help in any way that I can.”

ONGOING: “Quarantine Week by Weak” is a new photographic coffee-table book by Susannah McLeod and her wife, Chloe McLeod, who chronicled their home life during the COVID19 shutdown with a lighthearteded photo series documenting their lives during quarantine. They produced more than 35 sets of humorous photos comparing the beginning of quarantine to later in the “stay-at-home” period. Susannah pulled out her camera and we started to play,” said Chloe McLeod. As popularity for the series grew on Instagram and after a feature in Westword, the couple started exploring options to publish the series as a book to benefit The Denver Actors Fund. To order, visit mcleod9creative.com. This project is generously sponsored by The Albritton Family; Natalie Bowen and Jim Corbett; Dave Dyer; Julie Dyer; and Denise Gentilini and Lynette Prisner. Additional support provided by Angie Flachman and Sandy Birkey at The Publishing House and Sandra Lee Stuart.
