Financial-aid recipient: Paul Hartman and his wife, Amanda, are both longtime members of the local theatre community. Paul is a musician who has playing in pits from the Midtown Ats Center Arts Center in Fort Collins to the Candelight Dinner Theater in Johnstown to Performance Now in Lakewood to more. Most recently, he played for DAF recipients Melissa and Patrick Sawyer in the Longmont Theatre Company’s August production of Today, Tomorrow, & Forever – A celebration of Patsy Cline. Amanda is an actor who most recently appeared in Longmont Theatre Company’s Spamalot.
Their medical story: Paul was in a car accident in April that herniated a disk in his lower spine. Several times he has been scheduled for the corrective surgery that would eventually allow him to return to work, but other serious health issues have repeatedly conspired to postpone that surgery. The couple have three children and on the verge of being evicted. Last week, Paul was again rushed to the hospital and was admitted for several days, further depleting the family’s ability to pay rent or for other basic necessities.
How we are helping: The Denver Actors Fund board has approved an initial grant of $2,800 to help the Hartmans pay two months of rent and some basic living expenses. But because Paul’s return to work remains weeks or even months away, what we we have provided is just a temporary stopgap. Including targeted donations from the public, the DAF has made a total of $2,950 available to the Hartman family.
How you can help us help the Hartmans more: If you would like to direct a specific, additional donation to Paul Hartman, simply mail checks made out to The Denver Actors Fund (with Paul Hartman’s name in the topic field) to P.O. Box 11182, Denver, CO, 80212. Or use this donation link. If you use the online option, be sure to designate that your donation is targeted for Paul Hartman. Otherwise, your donation will be applied to the replenishment of the Denver Actors Fund’s general fun
A message from Paul Hartman: “We aren’t out of the woods yet, but with you’re help, life has become manageable.
From my little theatre family to our theatre family at large: THANK YOU!”
