Aid recipient: Tim Campbell is a well-known local actor currently working as the Food Service Manager at Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, located 45 miles north of Denver in Johnstown. Tim, a graduate of Lakewood High School and Metropolitan State University of Denver, most recently played bumbling alcoholic uncle Billy in Candlelight’s A Wonderful Life. Other recent credits include Once Upon a Mattress for Cabrini Arts, Bat Boy for Equinox Theatre, Anything Goes for Performance Now, and Hairspray for Evergreen Players. Campbell came to the support of The Denver Actors Fund in 2016 when he appeared as Edna Turnblad at a memorial concert for late DAF President Brenda Billings.
His medical story: Tim recently sought medical attention for lingering stomach issues. Having two expensive diagnostic tests ended up costing him $1,340.52 out of pocket — even after he chipped in the $150 he could afford and insurance paid its meager share of $300. For context: Tim’s monthly premium to the insurance company is $360. (!) Tim was past due on the remaining amount and had no means to meet the obligation before writing to the Denver Actors Fund for help.
How we have helped: The Board has voted to cover the remaining $1,340.52.
A message from Tim: “The Colorado theatre community is so lucky to have a program like this. I cannot express how grateful I am to have access to a program like the Denver Actors Fund that is helping so many people in a community that I hold near and dear to me. Thank you to the Colorado theatre family for making this a possibility. I am so grateful.”
