Denver Actors Fund helps veteran actor Paul Page through dental emergency
About Paul Page: Paul has been part of the Denver theatre and film community since 1988, most recently appearing in the Arvada Center’s “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.” In addition to dozens of stage roles over the years, Paul and his husband Eugene Ebner are the co-founders of Ebner-Page Productions, which brought together dozens of local and national performers for a 2017 benefit concert that raised nearly $40,000 for The Denver Actors Fund. Paul received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theater Arts from Kent State University and continued his training and experience in New York City, where he’s lived off and on over the years. Paul and Eugene returned to Denver in late August when the pandemic took away their jobs and opportunities in New York. Paul is the father of Zach and Jessie Page (Arvada Center Wardrobe Supervisor).
His medical story: Paul had to have emergency oral surgery when a tooth broke off at the gum as his regular dentist was attempting to extract it. The outcome further necessitated a bridge to keep his jaw in proper alignment.
How we have helped: First, The Denver Actors Fund paid the $324 post-insurance bill Paul was left with from his emergency surgery. Further, we hooked him up with The Denver Actors Fund’s partnering dentist Dr. Brian Kelly DDS, who accepts a limited number of emergency cases each year as his personal, in-kind donation to The DAF (along with his kind associates at the Dental Center at Thornton Plaza). Dr. Kelly took care of the remainder of Paul’s bridge needs, which would have come to $1,710 to a patient off the street. In addition, we paid $297 for third-party lab fees, bringing out overall support to Paul in this case to $2,331.
‘I AM VERY GRATEFUL TO THE DENVER ACTORS FUND FOR ITS ASSISTANCE.’
How you can help us help us help more Colorado theatre artists: The Denver Actors Fund has sent out more than $75,000 in artist assistance in 2021 and “only” brought in about $20,000 from donations. If you would like to make a donation to help The Denver Actors Fund replenish, simply mail checks in any amount made out to Denver Actors Fund to P.O. Box 11182, Denver, CO 80211. Or use this donation link, with our humble thanks.
A message from Paul: “I am very grateful to The Denver Actors Fund for its assistance. As we all know, it’s been a rough year, and when I broke my tooth and was told that I needed oral surgery and subsequently a bridge, I didn’t know how that was going to be possible. The DAF and Dr. Brian Kelly made it possible for me. Thank you very much!”

ONGOING: “Quarantine Week by Weak” is a new photographic coffee-table book by Susannah McLeod and her wife, Chloe McLeod, who chronicled their home life during the COVID19 shutdown with a lighthearteded photo series documenting their lives during quarantine. They produced more than 35 sets of humorous photos comparing the beginning of quarantine to later in the “stay-at-home” period. Susannah pulled out her camera and we started to play,” said Chloe McLeod. As popularity for the series grew on Instagram and after a feature in Westword, the couple started exploring options to publish the series as a book to benefit The Denver Actors Fund. To order, visit mcleod9creative.com. This project is generously sponsored by The Albritton Family; Natalie Bowen and Jim Corbett; Dave Dyer; Julie Dyer; and Denise Gentilini and Lynette Prisner.
