Denver Actors Fund and Dr. Brian Kelly help celebrated local actor through a dental odyssey
About William Hahn: Remarkable longtime Denver actor William Hahn has a range that spans lonely romantic nice guy in Miners Alley Playhouse’s “Frankie and Johnny” to unrepentant child murderer in Curious Theatre’s “Frozen.” (No, not THAT “Frozen.”) He most recently appeared in Miners Alley’s world premiere production of “Zen and the Art of Profit.” Next he stars as John D’Agata in Curious Theatre’s pandemic return, “The Lifespan of a Fact,” running Sept. 18 through Oct. 16. Other favorite roles include Henry Miller in “Queen of Conspiracy,” Moss in “Glengarry Glen Ross” and Pale in “Burn This.” He’s twice appeared with the DCPA Theatre Company, in “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “King Lear.” His many awards include the Denver Post Ovation, Westword Best of Denver, True West and Henry awards. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and the British American Drama Academy in London.
His medical story: William was in need of emergency dental assistance.
How we have helped: The Denver Actors Fund has a partnering dentist in Dr. Brian Kelly DDS, who accepts a limited number of emergency cases each year as his personal, in-kind donation to The DAF (along with his kind associates at the Dental Center at Thornton Plaza). Dr. Kelly provided William with the equivalent of $6,498 in free care. The Denver Actors Fund paid an additional $870 for a third-party lab fee, bringing our overall support for William to $7,368. This case brings the total of Dr. Kelley’s in-kind support to Colorado theatre artists through the DAF to $116,000.
‘I WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR YOU TURNING THE LIGHT BACK ON.’
A message from William: “I was lost, and I saw no light at the end of the tunnel. Dr. Brian Kelley and The Denver Actors Fund were like a beacon of light on a dark, stormy sea. You all provided a path, for me to make it back to shore. I will be forever grateful for you turning the light back on.”
How you can help us help us help more Colorado theatre artists: The Denver Actors Fund has sent out more than $165,000 in artist assistance in 2021 alone. But because of the ongoing difficulty raising funds during a pandemic, we have brought in less than half of that back in from donations. If you would like to make a donation to help The Denver Actors Fund replenish, simply mail checks in any amount made out to Denver Actors Fund to P.O. Box 11182, Denver, CO 80211. Or use this donation link, with our humble thanks.
