Preston Adams takes a positive step for their mental health, and the Denver Actors Fund is with them all the way
Financial aid recipient: Preston Adams (they/them) is an actor, singer, playwright, director and voice coach who most recently appeared as Hud in Miners Alley Playhouse’s “Hair.” They were previously seen in the Arvada Center’s “Kinky Boots,” Town Hall’s “Little Shop of Horrors” (as Audrey II), Vintage Theatre’s “Cinderella” (as Lord Pinkerton), The Spark’s “Songs for a New World” (as Man 1), and wrote/starred in their original musical “There Will Be a Light” for Wellspring Theatre. Preston graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.

Preston’s medical story: After seriously struggling with their mental health, Preston courageously checked into a facility that could provide lifesaving help. Necessary medical tests and procedures that were compulsory for admittance came to an out-of-pocket medical obligation of $3,144.
How we have helped: The Denver Actors Fund Board of Directors voted to pay Preston’s bill in full, bringing our overall support for Preston (including a COVID-related DEAR Fund stipend) to $3,394.
A message from Preston: “Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it, and don’t feel ashamed to speak your truth. It’s much easier to fight and stay strong knowing I have a whole community behind me, holding me up.”

Join us for “Newsies,” based on the Disney movie. It tells the inspiring true story of the Newsboys’ Strike of 1899, following a charismatic young man named Jack Kelly and the band of paper boys who looked to him for leadership when two greedy titans of publishing suddenly raised the prices for newspapers at the children’s expense. ONGOING: “Quarantine Week by Weak” is a new photographic coffee-table book by Susannah McLeod and her wife, Chloe McLeod, who chronicled their home life during the COVID19 shutdown with a light-hearteded photo series documenting their lives during quarantine. They produced more than 35 sets of humorous photos comparing the beginning of quarantine to later in the “stay-at-home” period. Susannah pulled out her camera and we started to play,” said Chloe McLeod. As popularity for the series grew on Instagram and after a feature in Westword, the couple started exploring options to publish the series as a book to benefit The Denver Actors Fund. A Colorado Springs family is convinced that Barack Obama is coming for their guns in the final weeks of his presidency – and they’re right. Featuring Laurence Curry, Drew Horwitz, Chris Kendall, Leslie O’Carroll, Jenna Moll Reyes, Jessica Robblee, Luke Sorge and Mare Trevathan. It was recorded by the staff of Parker Arts at the PACE Center as an in-kind donation to The Denver Actors Fund.
